I was watching interviews of Tavi the other day (as I do when I wanna get pumped up, girl-power style), and I was struck (for the millionth time) at how she had these goals that weren't necessarily adhering to the set of skills that so many people today consider #IMPORTANT #WORTHY #MODERN, like her writing, collaging, fashion, feminism, and imagination, but she nevertheless created something so amazing (her blog and RookieMag) that everyone can now share. It's incredibly inspiring, and it makes me thankful to live in an age where one of my role models is a 16 year-old girl from Chicago who has a bouffant and wears saddle shoes. I mean, how punx is that, really?
My first attempt at using photoshop lulz: Marni shoes, American Apparel clutch, Opening Ceremony pants by Kenzo/A.Wang/Kenzo
I hope you at least appreciate the sentiment of my first Photoshop collage. I certainly feel like a grownup. Lately I've been into muddy soft colors, some black/white action, and spots of primary blues and reds. Although my last purchase was a hot pink silk blouse...so kill me. I'm on a mad hunt for some good trousers as of late, ever since ALL of my jeans decided to get massive holes in them all at once. I'm thinking of investing in some light wool or thick denim pairs that will transition easily from winter to spring. Even though spring is seeming further away than ever during these frigid NYC days. But I've just come back from New Orleans, where it was 75 and sunny every day. Color me optimistic?
I'll be jetting back to Paris for the next 4 months on Wednesday, and I'm really sad to be leaving the Americas again. And not just because it's been snowing nonstop in Paris for the past two weeks...no, it's because I've been having such a lovely time with my friends and family and F. But it's also necessary to press on, towards new adventures and challenges and interesting people. So I suppose my biggest challenge at the moment is, how the hell am I going to fit all my shoes into my bags without weighing down the airplane so much it falls out of the sky?
