something goes right

f21 shorts, random top, ecote sandals, michael kors bag, gifted necklace

I'm going to be doing these Montreal posts a little backwards, because I'm too lazy to get my disposable pictures developed just yet, and they depict the first day or so. This was Wednesday, when F and I wandered around eating and drinking and park frolicking. We found a restaurant that looked bougie, but was actually filled with insane chanting French-Canadian women, and went to a bar called Lab that served flaming absinthe shots...shit was bananas.

glitter baby

ph: my tumblr, stockholm streetstyle, style.com

It's pretty clear to see where my head is at these days. I think I'm living vicariously through the extreme glamour/femininity/babeness of these shots, because my summer has been distinctly lacking all three. I'm going to Montreal with F on Monday, so hopefully I'll find a little fun and fashion there. Also, stay tuned for the next post, which will include shenanigans on Coney Island, plus a rad giveaway!

Five Piece French Wardrobe, Revisited

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may remember how I was fixated on the idea of the 5 Piece French Wardrobe last year. The premise is that you buy only 5 items each season, excluding basics and accessories under $150. The idea is that you'll stop spending money on lots of things that are cheap, but that you'll only wear a few times. It worked out really well for me, except I got a little too nazi-ish and stopped allowing myself to buy anything, at which point the list disintegrated. Now, I'm revisiting the idea in a bit of a different way, being that I'm moving to France in 2 months. I'm on the hunt for summer things that will transition well into my fall Paris wardrobe. My findersKEEPERS dress and Ecote sandals will be perfect, I think. Below are some other things that fall into the summer wishlist/mandatory Parisian items category (which is a pretty large category. I'm really restraining myself here, people).

the year was 1965!

Last night, F and I went to see Moonrise Kingdom. It was absolutely as perfect as I imagined it would be, and might be my new favorite Wes Anderson film. It's in very limited release (I think only 2 theaters in nyc are playing it), but if you have the chance to go, you really should! It has Anderson's signature understated quirkiness, combined with a great cast and a really smart, funny story. Can't hype it enough.

Before the movie we grabbed some sushi, and afterwards we wended our way to the LES (possibly stopping at a bar or two along the way), and ended up at our favorite restaurant, Lil' Frankies on 1st and 1st. As usual, everything was superb- I got salmon, F got pizza with mushrooms, and we split ricotta e burrata to start. By the time we ended our gastronomic adventure, we were so full we basically had to roll ourselves home. A sure sign of success.

Southwest Charm

Some detail shots of an outfit I wore to brunch on Tuesday. I like taking pictures during the day because most nights I'm in my work clothes and feel very creatively stifled (black trousers, black button up, restaurant shoes and a tie aren't exactly my idea of high fashion). Still obsessed with my backless button-up that I got at some random store in Soho. I'm wearing a peach slip underneath the shirt because then I'm always prepared for a Cat on a Hot Tin Roof moment, should one occur.

Also my new favorite thing is pairing up artists, living or dead, in imaginary relationships with one another. So far I've decided that Frank Ocean and Frieda Kahlo belong together, as well as Clarice Lispector and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I should totally make a tumblr with pictures of them photoshopped together in passionate embraces.
(closeup so you can see my choker/my cray photo-boothing skills)

Finally, check out my tumblr if you haven't already. When I make it to my next followers milestone (which should be very soon!!) I'm doing an amazeballs giveaway with Simply Beach. Think Mad Men/fairy queens/urban floral babeness...

cheap thrill

Taking outdoor photos today was a pretty dire thought, as the weather is being terribly schizo. But I had to show you my newest thrift find, a dress that has the perfect amount of va-va-voom girliness that I'm really into right now. A couple of simple alterations (i.e. cutting out the shoulder pads and cutting off the sleeves), and it's the perfect slinky dress for summer nights.
