changing vistas

4 months from now, I'll no longer be living in New York, but instead in the European city of lights! I'm both excited and terrified for the monumental change that will bring, and I constantly think about my future Parisian home. Cue daily visits to interior design blogs, most notably Planete Deco, which showcases beautiful homes and apartments of all sizes from all over the world. I've definitely cultivated a knowledge of what I like and don't like from perusing this site. Things I love include:

* Collections of different sized photographs, artwork, and mirrors grouped on a wall
* Animal elements - fake taxidermy, paintings, furry throws, etc
* Touches of gold and silver with smoky blue
* COLOR in general! I hate the trend of all white being equal to stylish homes
* Chalkboard paint on walls, for drawing and writing notes
* Floral, mystical and celestial patterns on pillows, wallpaper, curtains etc.

But despite my desire to go abroad, I have to admit, I'm going to be really sad to leave the apartment I'm living in now. My roommate Laura and I have spent a lot of time this year making our apartment colorful, quirky, ridden with plants, and resolutely our own. I'll post some pictures of it in the next week  or so!

watch the sigh grow across the trees

random top, F21 necklace, thrifted pants, Aldo boots

If any of y'all are in the city tonight (new york city, that is), come to the Ella Lounge (Houston and 1st) to hear me doing backup vocals for my girl Kiah Victoria. She's LITERALLY AMAZEBALLS you guys, peep this video of her Frank Ocean cover. You'll be in love, I promise. Set is at 7pm, hope to see you there!

In other news, these pants are the comfiest little guys I've ever worn, and could someone please explain why it's still not quite spring? I'm over it.

nutshell

A composite look at the things that have been inspiring me the past week. I'm feeling pretty down in the dumps lately, so looking at pretty, delicate things is my way of giving myself that last, desperate push I need to finish out the year. I'm completely overwhelmed with work, rehearsals, and trying to see friends before we all go our separate ways in the summer. For me, it'll be the last time I'll see many of them before my senior year.

Kiddies, today is the blog's 4-year anniversary (give or take a few days)! Pretty insane, no? I thought it was actually the 3 year until I looked back and saw the first post dated April 19th, 2008. It's pretty embarrassing interesting looking back on my first posts, and how different I was and my life was back then. This blog has stayed with me through my travels, different schools, and my changing sense of self and how I interact with the world around me. I never wanted to blog to gain notoriety (although I'm so thankful for those who read), but rather to express my love for fashion and my excitement for my future life, whatever it entails. Thanks for reading The Minx, and continue to spread the love!

post-pascale

ASOS shorts (similar 1, 2), blanket sweater (similar), DM darcie boot

These were taken on my way back from brunch with Laura last sunday. As you can see, I am proudly brandishing a baby chick cupcake that was oh-so-Easterly. I say was because the frosting chick has since been devoured. RIP chickadee. Also, I have to do a close-up shot one of these days, but I'm wearing silver flower earrings that my boyfriend brought me back from Paris- they're gorgeous, I wear them nearly every day. He has excellent taste in jewelry, considering that he wears gym shorts, a muscle tee and is shoeless about 90 percent of the time. Obviously, opposites attract.

Speaking of shoes, I can't help but be looking forward to my toes getting some fresh air (why does that sound so gross?), and I'm all about interesting flat sandals at the moment- Jesus shoes, if you will. Some of my favorites below- really considering the Kors ones, although maybe I'll just revert back to being 5 and run around in the Topshop jellies all summer.

just cause it feels good

My pictures from New Orleans have made me realize that someone needs to duct tape my hands to my sides, to prevent me from touching the side of my head in every photo. Why is that my default move? Do I always think I have a fever or something? Probably just wanting to caress the shave.

Speaking of which, I'm deciding what to do about the undercut in the next few months. I'm going to keep it for the summer, but then I'm going to go in a whole different direction, I think. Kind of exciting...and happy Easter/Passover/Atheist Apathy day!

vernal blooms

This is what I envision myself wearing this spring and summer...

...But in reality I've been wearing ripped jeans and a bunny rabbit sweatshirt for the past two days, so really who do I think I'm fooling??

Also, I'm now on Instagram! I know, I've been living in a hole, it's fine. Follow me at cagedwonder!

whiskey, crepes, you welcome

first outfit: random black front-tie shirt, levis cutoff shorts, sam edelman flats, anthropologie headband; second outfit: urban outfitters waterfall hem dress, vintage slip

I just got back from an exhausting, overwhelming, beautiful weekend in New Orleans. I'm so happy I got to go, because New York has been feeling pretty claustrophobic lately, and I've been burnt out and uninspired. Going to see my boyfriend (the love of my life) and exploring the city with him was exactly the rejuvenation I needed. We went for walks by the Mississippi river, ate at cafes and creperies, went to see The Black Keys (fo' free!) and were just able to lie around and be together, something that doesn't happen very often, as we only see each other about once a month. This was just part 1 of the adventure, I have plenty more photos to share!
