Montreal Photo Diary Pt. 1

Just got back from a short but incredibly sweet trip to Montreal with my boyfriend. We stayed in the best apartment imaginable, and partook in all we could during our brief vacation. Highlights were not paying for the botanical garden and finding even more beauty on the outskirts of the park itself, being chased by a demon squirrel, eating green tea ice cream that may very well have been drugged, exploring the desolate beauty of the abandoned olympic stadium, trying all of the beers at a micro brewery, and taking pictures of every exquisite thing I could find.

It makes me hot just to look at this dress, but on days when it's 104 degrees (today), I start to crave knits, over-the-knee boots and hot coffee (haven't had that in weeks). This Raquel Allegra number is the perfect everyday piece that can look edgy or clean depending on your choice of shoes or bag. In other words, I want it.

Dark Haired Dark Eyed

The Sartorialist has been my number one source for inspiration these days. Obviously that's no surprise to anyone knowledgeable about fashion; he's pretty much the Michelangelo of street style photography. But these three photos so perfectly encapsulate the "look" I'm trying for these days. All of these women have their hair in a bun, off their face. They are all wearing beautifully draped clothing, devoid of loud prints and in muted colors. They all look relaxed, yet are inexorably mysterious. I don't think that wearing the same clothes will give me any more of their je ne sais quoi, but their arresting beauty has been on my mind for the past week or so.

Date Niiiiight

Fun fact: whenever my boyfriend sees a couple walking downtown holding hands, he likes to roll down his window and growl "date niiiight!" in the creepiest way possible at them, and then speed away (speed being a relative term because he drives a minivan). He's a truly classy fellow.

Le boyfriend was nice enough to snap these pictures of me after one of our dates this week- we took these next to, but not in front of, a church. I thought it would be strange to post pictures of a date outfit in front of the church, because that's not where we went on our date. I got these new shoes- similar to the Dolce and Gabbana wedges, but conveniently located at Aldo.
