Deep Talks

H&M button down, AA sweatshirt, BDG jeans, Doc Martens darcie boots, Uniqlo coat

As I should have realized, life takes you on many unsuspecting journeys, where what seemed to be the object of your desire suddenly fades into the distance, and something else takes its place. What I mean to say is, my 5PFW list has changed somewhat. Due to a trip I took to the Soho Uniqlo a few afternoons ago. I was going there to look for a black blazer (on my basics list) and/or some trousers (on my wish list). What happened, however, was that I found the most beautiful wool coat. It's so soft, so warm, just the right length, and has the greatest shape. Relaxed minimalism, my new best friend. Also, my desire for a black blazer has dissipated ever since the arrival of my black Doc Martens Darcie boots. They don't count as anything though, they were a belated birthday present. I just wanted to let you know how much I love them. I've also found the perfect white shirt at the Gap. So my new list is:

5 Trend Pieces:
* Spring and Clinton cardigan
* Grey Uniqlo wool coat
* Cargo trousers
* Ankle booties, heeled/wedge
* Architectural dress

Basics:
* Gap white utility shirt
* The perfect black hat

I'm only allowed 4 more new items of clothing until March 21st!?! I'm sweating a little here, guys...

Ode To LN-CC

I've been getting all these emails from LN-CC, the website that extols daily the magic of Maison Martin Margiela drop crotch sweatpants and Damir Doma asymmetric clutches. The more I peruse, the more I'm in love with all of its wares. And so, to fully convey to you the extent of my love, I have written some haikus:
Rick Owens' leggings,
find a home in my closet;
I will snuggle you

Feather capes are nice
when you are man-repelling
birds beat boys any day.

Doc Martens-esque boots,
You intrigue me thoroughly
ugly, yet refined

A shirt for bowling?
Do I see leopard print trim?
All signs point to yes.

Banane

I always think LaGarconne's lookbooks are bananas, but their Pre-Spring series (by the way, what is Pre Spring? I hate these made up in-between seasons that fashion people think they can invent) is really spectacular. I like this whole "relaxed minimalism" thing that's finally coming around to the US. The Europeans in France, Italy, Sweden, etc. have already been doing it for years, but we're only now getting the hang of it in the US. I guess it's because Americans aren't really good at paring down, well, anything.

Sans un Mot

Currently:
anarchistic Chanel ads, wanderlust, my demon tiger temporary tattoo, sheer black and white, very tasteful nails

I have compiled my 5PFW desires for this season into a list, which will make things easier when I go shopping. I think it'll help me not buy unnecessary things, because i'll have a clear idea of what I need.

My 5 Trendy Pieces
  • Spring and Clinton cardigan
  • Wedge or heeled booties
  • Black faux leather or velvet trousers
  • Sheer white blouse
  • Architectural dress
Basics
  • White button-down shirt
  • Black blazer
Wish me luck kidz!

J'en Aurais Pleuré

Spring and Clinton sweater, H&M blouse and shoes, AA leggings
I bought my first 5PFW item recently (see below posts to know what I'm talkin' bout). It's the perfect blend of being sensible (cause it's a plain black sweater), and a little bit crazy (fur tufts on the shoulder, anyone?). I think it might be man-repellent, but I guess that's okay when you already have a boyfriend and he lives across the country most of the time. My second piece of the season is already on its way, and I know it seems like I'm getting everything all at once, but when it gets here you'll see how badass it is.

Putting 5 on it

I'm really invested in the idea of the 5 piece French Wardrobe. I think it's going to help me learn to think before I buy, if nothing else. It'll get me away from the consumerist mentality of everyone else, which is good because I generally have that attitude towards everything, not just clothes. Being a broke college student, I need to learn to moderate so that I won't be so...well, broke all the time. Below are some of the things I'm eyeing for my 5 trendy pieces that I'd be willing to spring for.
Stylestalker leggings, Topshop dress, Jeffrey Campbell wedges, MinkPink dress, Sam Edelman clogs, Anthropologie skirt, Dimepiece asymmetric dress, Censored maxi skirt
