(Untitled Post)

Doc Martens, BDG jeans, Cooperative bag, vintage top, jacket and jewelry

This is the last post of 2010 y'all! I love all you readers, and it's so much fun to blog about all the dumb shizz of my life. 2010 was an emotional but amazing year. I got into my dream school, started dating a beautiful and amazing boy, got into the a cappella group I was obsessed with, was accepted to the Paris conservatory for 2012, and did some silly things with my crazy friends. And I'm excited for the good times to keep rolling. Bring on 2011 BITCHESSS

(also, I know my socks don't match... >_<)

Liquid D'allumage

Vanillascented, Tfs

I have one or two other maxidresses, but the one I got for Christmas is really perfect: it's the right amount of length, sheerness, drape, etc. It's already giving me so much inspiration, for wintertime and beyond. I also can't wait till my new Docs come in the mail; I see great things in this pairing. I think I also want to find a good dark brown/dark grey belt to wear with it, and some simple gold jewelry.

On another note, however, I've been really inspired after reading a post on the blog afterDRK. She talked about how she wanted to start the "5 Piece French Wardrobe" starting in January, and I think I might start too. The premise is to only buy 5 new "trendy" pieces each season, excluding basics and accessories under $150. Obviously, the idea is to only buy things that you really like. I think it's a great idea for me, because I tend to buy cheap things in bulk, instead of a few nicer things. I'll try it, and tell you how it goes!

ps- Sorry for the text-heavy post, I'm just trying to practice my French again. I'm going to be moving to Paris in a year and a half!

Cottonflower

I think I want to start making some bluesy folk soul americana bullshit music soon. I haven't been in a band for a while, and I want to start learning a new instrument anyway. This year for some reason, winter makes me think of going back to nature. But I think that's mostly because I am itching to travel, so much so that it's making me a little crazier than I am usually. I'm glad I get to take care of a family friend's cats soon. They soothe me, and it'll give me something to do while my boy is in Hawaii. Maybe I'll write music inspired by those 5 crazy cats.

Also, check dis out! It's a video I made of my a cappella group the NYU N'harmonics rehearsing and performing Kimbra's "Settle Down". Kimbra herself blogged about it!! So insane. We love her.

Also, Merry Merry Happy Happy Christmas and New Years! Love y'all.

Inspiration: I want clothes in dream colors, textured layers, warmth, silence, for everything in my head to stop shouting.

do not go gentle into that good night

Comment if you would like me to ID any of the pieces above

I've been perusing Style.com's pre-fall 2011 collections and have been massively enamored of them, especially Donna Karan and Elie Tahari. Chanel's collection, inspired by Byzantine opulence, seemed at first to be too over-the-top and brazenly glamorous for me to relate to. However, it was that collection I decided to base these collages off of. Because honestly, I think glamour is what we need during the winter months when everyone starts dressing like a nylon-covered behemoth. There is a sense of ease in the velvet trousers and draped gowns that offset the jewels, gold filigree, and sumptuous leather. Beauty.

I also was going to post some outfit pics taken today in Washington Square Park that were interrupted by some pigeons that attacked me. But I thought better of it because they look kind of awkward. I attribute this to the face that I was, you know, being attacked by pigeons...

Mee-owww

Established in London's East End in November of 2002, Public Beware was one of the forerunners of that area's burgeoning street fashion culture. To this day its continued aim is to provide the hippest items to the art-savvy fashion enthusiasts who frequent that part of London. Their unique range of tops, dresses, jackets, and much more inspire an alternative yet sexy approach to fashion that attracts trendsetters alike each season. Started as a T-shirt only brand, Public Beware now has three clothing lines on sale in its own shop on Brick Lane and has acquired a large cult following from around the globe.

My only regret about Public Beware is that their stores are so far away! I'm really feeling their aesthetic, it's the perfect blend of funky and chic, a balance I'm always trying to find in what I wear. The jackets and accessories especially are freaking sickk. Their price point is also super enticing, and the fact that they luckily ship everywhere. The Brits can't have all the fun, ya know?

I Wonder Can We?

Gap shirt, American Apparel leggings, Capezio skirted leotard, Vintage jacket

I bought this jacket from some women on the street for twenty bucks, which I think was a great deal, considering its badass factor/ultimate fringe. It's not reeeeally warm enough (at all) for this guy anymore though, considering this weekend's frigidity. However, I'm not ready to give it up for my SERIOUS winter parka. As usual, my fashion choices are brought to you via the wonderful world of macboook photos. Good thing my mom just got a fancy new Nikon DSLR...

Also, I'm sorry to keep making this blog about my a cappella group, but I wanted to share with y'all a video from when we sang at Georgetown for their a cappella festival. It'll give you more of a sense of what we're all about. I'm wearing the green dress, soloing in "Ain't No Sunshine."
