Mon fils conteste, Ma mère proteste

I have a little question:

I would like to know if any of you would be interested in reading a small excerpt of the novel I have written. I would be really interested in what you guys think, because I truly value your opinions.

Metro. Thai. Kimya. Metro.

Friday night me and five of my friends went to the Bowery Ballroom to see Kimya Dawson perform.

It was a really fun night, but Kimya had 5-yes, I'm serious-5!! Opening acts. Also she was an hour late. The problem with being from Jersey and being sans car that night is that we had to leave the place at 11:15 to make the 12:45 bus. This may seem like an excess of time, but it just so happened that we got on the right subway going in the wrong direction of our destination. I luckily figured it out before we got to JFK.

To make a long story short, we only saw Kimya perform 2 songs before we split. Which is a shame, because she really is an amazing performer. She is very quiet, but extremely sincere. She lowers her eyes when she sings, and it makes her so compelling to watch. Hopefully I'll see her again in the future.

There's no point being disappointed, because it was an eventful night. For one thing, her fourth opening act guy was a dead ringer for the guy from Guitar Hero (the one with the long, greasy black hair), and the fifth guy (who happened to be Kimya's brother) only sang songs about herpes and professional wrestling. This is the life I lead.

Most amazing vintage store ever.

I bought this dress at American Apparel. I'm planning to wear it on New Years Eve. It's a bit...scandalously form-fitting.

Les Belles

I'm really not a person who has an affinity for models. They generally seem pretty generic nowadays. All of them seem to be blonde with wide-set eyes. This are of course beautiful, but not unique in my opinion. My favorites are Liya Kebede, Du Juan, and Amanda Laine. They have a regalness and a sensitivity in their faces that I don't normally see in many models today.

Ooh, and I got an award! My first one, from lovely Carlene. I'm ridiculously excited :))

Blogs who receive this award are "exceedingly charming," says it's authors. This award is a fine one because it focuses not on the glory and fanfare of blogging, but in the PROXIMITY to one another through this online-world. "This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into into the body of their award.

Thank you again! I will pass this onto...

Peut-être Je Suis Un Garcon?

I've been more and more drawn to the style of guys lately. And this is from someone who refuses to wear pants unless tazered. I don't know why, perhaps it is just because of the amount of ridiculously fashionable guys I have seen on the web lately. Here are some elements taken straight from the boys that I shall be trying in the new year, definalement.

(It might be better if you click on the pictures to enlarge-my computer's being a buttface at the moment)

There will be Christmas pictures up very soon... :) Enjoy the day, you all deserve it.

Libre Comme Un Oiseau

Babies...

I am on break from school now! For twelve whole, delicious days!! It feels so good.

I am not going anywhere for Christmas, which is just fine with me. I love to stay in my house during the holidays, watching movies and eating my father's delicious carrot soup. I love waking up on Christmas day.

I hope all of you have splendid holidays as well, whether they are filled with serenity or wild and crazy parties. I am hoping for a bit of both, personally...

On another note, I was at the mall the other day, finishing up my holiday shopping, when I foolishly walked into Mandees. I say foolishly because the sight that greeted me will be engrained upon my memory for the rest of my life. Why, WHY would you ever sell sequin-encrusted bras for mass purchase? This is not the Kit Kat Club, we do not live in Cabaret-world. Do not. Ever again. This is your last warning, Mandee, whomever you may be...

ODE TO A JUMPSUIT

Oh, Alexander Wang powder blue prefall jumpsuit, why do I love thee?
You would make me look like a gas station attendant from the future.
And yet...this idea seems so appealing to me at the moment.
I think it is the rad zipper that attracts me so.
Fie!

La Blanche Neige

“Snow and adolescence are the only problems that disappear if you ignore them long enough.”

We have a snow day today from school. Ironically, it is not even snowing, because the heavy snow isn't expected until noon...not that I'm complaining. I'm looking forward to going out with my friends for hot cocoa, and a Broadway show in the evening.

And I know I've been a header schizo the last few weeks, but I think I'll save this one for a while. And anyway, variety is the spice of life, no?

Cette Nuit est la Nuit Pour La Neige

It's funny that I just posted about never buying those high heel hiking boots, because only today my mother suprised me with a pair! I'm happy though, they will be better in the snow than my other boots, which have no traction whatsoever. And...I must admit...they are pretty damn fierce. Pictures to come...

Des Jeunes

Hedi Slimane has posted a collection of photos he has taken of London teenagers. I like these photos because unlike some of his other work, which features rumpled but gorgeous model types, the characters documented here are real people, with real expressions and real awkwardness. Because you know I love awkwardness. I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Une Orgasme Pour Mes Pieds

This is my ultimate, end-all list of the shoes I desire so greatly. Sans the docs, because I think my obsession with them has been documented ad nauseum.

1. The perfect boots- A little beaten up, a little slouchy, and perfectly versatile. Not to mention good for walking-I'm on my feet all the time. Also, I already have black boots, so a brown pair would open up my wardrobe to a whole new world!

2. The perfect flats- I have one pair of shoes from Repetto, and they are a gorgeous pair of purple-grey sparkle heels a la Ginger Rogers. They have a heel, but are the most ridiculously cushiony shoes everrr. I can only imagine what it would be like to have a pair of their flats. I might fall asleep while walking because of the extreme comfort.

3. The perfect booties- I mean, just look at them. Perfect platform, sturdy enough to walk in, and the ever-so-slightly curved heel? Shut up.

4. The perfect weird-ass but still cool shoes- These could potentially be laughable on, but I'm willing to take that chance.

5. The perfect heels that I will never have- Oh Nicholas, my Nicholas, make me your muse and shower me with your creations. Actually, scratch the "showering" me thing, those heels look like they would hurt.

Also, I'm posting this picture of myself in Topshop London this summer. The expression on my face was basically there the entire time I was in the store.

Des Aveux

Here are some things about myself that you may not necessarily know:

1. I enjoy wearing clothes that make me look homeless

2. I think that a guy smoking is sexy

3. I'm obsessed with artsy photos

4. The first time I saw Erin Wasson (which was on this cover), I thought she looked kind of like a water buffalo. I know, this is probably fashion sacrilege.

5. I have always wanted to be Asian. This is not a joke.

6. I'm a huge nerd.
