Cigarette

Run, jump, scream, breathe. Everything is here for you. Everyone you know is at the party. And you're here too. You think you're invisible, but everyone can see you. You're the most beautiful girl in the room.

I was emailing with Jack Siegel the other day (the photographer of Skullset), and was talking with him about what kind of camera he uses. As you know I'm on the hunt for a good one to get for Christmas. I'm getting ideas, folks...

Mixed Reviews

This is my favorite photo ever. I have it on my school binder and everything. The dress, the boots, the setting, everything is perfect. It makes you want to go wherever she is and do whatever she does.

I went shopping today, but I don't think the fashion gods were with me, because I didn't really find anything great. Zara was a surprising disappointment; apart from a few pairs of shoes I didn't really see anything I liked. H&M was better. I saw a lot of cute things, but when I tried them on they were less than cute on me. It's frustrating sometimes, because so many of the bloggers have perfect, sample size bodies and I obviously don't. I want to pull off some of the trends I see online, but many of them just look awkward on my larger body.

However, I don't mean to sound like a whiner. I was lucky enough to find some black fingerless gloves that are always perfect for the fall and winter, as well as a really cute grey and black furry leopard print beret. I'll make sure to post pictures of them soon.

A Trip to Pixie Market

On my mind...

Luckily, to satiate my sinful desires, we are taking a trip to ye olde shopping malle today. That's not actually what it's called. But regardless, I am on the lookout for things that are: plaid, form-fitting, PVC, buckled, and go click-click. I wonder if there's anything in the world that combines all those things? If there was, I would undoubtedly marry it...

It's Vintage Dah-ling

Yesterday was fun. I went to the salvation army with six of my friends, and then to a comic book store called New Moon. I picked up the bag I'm holding there for a cool five dollars. My friend's boyfriend was visiting from Cali, and she got mad at me because she asked what New Moon was, and I told her that it was a strip club. She was afraid we would scare her boyfriend off. I told her that our personalities had a much better chance of scaring him off than any strip club.

Tonight we went to our favorite restaurant, Little Frankie's in the East Village. It has the absolute best food in the city. They also happen to have several very good-looking waiters there. On a fashion note, I'm wearing my stockings with the black seams up the back, but there are runs in them now. I was mad at first, but now I think I like them better that way.

My Interpretation

I was just feeling the whole red, black and white thing (see my other post), so I decided to play around with it today. I like this outfit, but even I must admit that it is getting a bit too cold to be having bare feet in late November...

Speculation

One of the hottest topics on the lips of fashionistas today has, oddly, to do with politics. Well, kind of. There has been much speculation as of late as to what Michelle Obama will wear to the inaguration ball on January 20th. I am a Michelle lover no doubt, so I thought I would throw in my own suggestions, on the off-chance that she avidly peruses my blog on the regular.

Here are the dresses, all taken from the 2008 couture collections, that I would love to see Mrs. Obama in come January. I think they would all suit her style, body shape and personality, and of course make a statement. She is certainly a striking woman, and I love how her fashion choices reflect her inner confidence.

1. Armani Prive
Michelle is always in color, and I think that this gown would be an interesting change for her. The strapless style would highlight her wonderful shoulders and arms, and the overall look would be incredibly chic and graphic.

2. Elie Saab
My favorite couture designer, I think Michelle could totally pull off the huge ruffled shoulder accoutrement, and she always looks fabulous in any shade of red.

3. Dior
This tiered gown would look wonderful on the first lady elect. The shimmer on the hem and the floaty fabric would take fashion in politics in an entirely new (and much more stylish, might I add) direction.

4. Valentino
I chose this gown because it definately brings to mind the pale pink sheath that Jackie Kennedy wore to her inauguration. Michelle's skin is so rich that she would look better in this than the runway model, and she would look infinitely romantic and lovely.

5. Versace
This is what I am hoping she will wear. A vivid red, a relatively simple silhouette, and striking couture details. She would make everyone's head turn without a doubt.

6. However, as perfect as that last dress was, I am also secretly hoping she will wear this. It would be extremely gauche, but she could pull it off. I am positively quivering with excitement...

My Eternal, My Burning Flame

These titles are just getting ridiculous now. Can you tell I'm in a crazy mood? WOOO.

But really, I have been stocking up photos for this post for a while. I am madly, totally, desperately, sickeningly in love with the color combination of red, black and white. Is this anticlimactic for you?

Well anyway, I just think it is the chicest and most fabulous statement one can make, sartorially speaking. Red is my favorite color, and it just commands confidence, fun and power. White is so clean and lovely, and black is...well, you know. Together, they're like a freaking crime fighting team of fashion, and can be worn in so many ways with any person's style, man or woman, young or old, etc etc.

I'm done gushing. See for yourself the vastly different permutations of these colors, and experience the world through the eyes of an addict. Hee hee.

(I especially love a B&W outfit with some sick red shoes)

Kiss and Tell, Frank Tell

I know you're loving these gross puns I'm throwing out. Frank Tell was featured on Style.com's "Designers to Watch" feature, and I shall certainly be one of those watching his every move. His specialty are his fabulous party frocks, which have a futuristic vibe with an almost completely monochromatic palate, and his strong approach to draping. However, they are also completely wearable and fun, while still being hella-head turning. Basically what I'm trying to say is...well, you can see for yourself.

I loved his A/W fall 08 collection, and as you can see his trend radar was pretty on point, what with all the furry vests and Balenciaga-esque silhouettes.

Your Regular Program Will Return Shortly...

Sorry for being so M.I.A. this week. Things have been crazy. And by things have been crazy I mean I haven't worn anything this week worth photographing-slash-I haven't had time to photograph anything-slash I've been too lazy and uninspired to post anything else. I promise, I'll get back on the bandwagon soon!
