This was our last day in London. We went to see the London National Opera's version of Candide in the afternoon, and went to bed early, because we had to get up at four the next morning to catch a plane to Toulouse at seven. Needless to say, it was not my most glamourous moment.
But arrive in Toulouse we did. Toulouse is called "The Rose City", because the buildings are made out of beautiful reddish-pink stone. The people are friendly and very relaxed, and I have already gotten to practicing my (limited) French.
As for the fashion: The women here are very slim and elegant, and their clothing is very relaxed. They are so unlike American girls, because they do not try to dress sexily. They instead opt for loose linen pants or jeans, simple billowing tops and dresses, and well-made flat leather shoes. This may sound boring, but it is not, for these women always choose interesting textures, colors and sillhouettes, making their fashion statements both unique and flattering. I love it, and I hope that after a month I will have adopted some of their sensibilities!
