Oh. My. God.

I want this. Iwantitiwantitiwantit.

I know, I'm such a brat. Luckily, the $185 price tag, combined with my nonexistent cash flow makes the chances of caving into my desires around zero percent.

It's What the Pretty Girls Are Wearing

In my extremely active imagination, I oft dream of being in various random but fabulous situations, just so I can design in my head what I would wear (don't lie, you know you do it too).

Right now, I'm thinking about France this summer, and what I would wear while doing various quaint French activities. In reality, once I get there I suspect it will be too hot to plan anything more fashionable than ye good old t-shirt and shorts.

But in my mind...

This is what I would wear going to class in the mornings:

This is what I would wear going out to a picnic:

And of course, out on the town:

Prom

I went to prom on wednesday. Here are some pictures of my friends and my dress!

(I'm in the red)

You've Got the Look that Makes You Stand Out

As most of my friends know, I have a not-so-subtle obsession with all things Japanese. Ever since I was about four, I befriended Japanese girls and boys and ate sushi whenever I could. My best moment came when I was five, and my dad went on a business trip to Japan and brought me back an authentic red kimono <3.

Over the past few years I have become infatuated with Harajuku and Japanese street style. Their boldness when it comes to fashion is genius to me, and inspires me to take more risks with my clothing.

Some versions of Harajuku are:
1. Kawaii (cuteness)
Kawaii is a style sensibility that incorporates all aspects of pop culture, from music to art to, of course, fashion. It's characterized by a childlike innocence and cartoons like Pokemon!

2. Gothic Lolita
Gothic Lolita is a combination of influences, from Victoriana to, of course the infamous Lolita herself. In this way, Gothic Lolita style incorporates elements such as mostly black outfits with exaggerated ruffles, pleats and corsetry, together with darker lipstick, foppishly balanced hats and prim parasols.

3. Punk
Harajuku punks use extreme hair coloring and styling, as well as traditional punk clothing, including plaid, chains and leather.

The Super Night

This year, the theme for the Costume Institute's Met Gala was superheroes. I personally live for themed parties, and you would think that the celebs would make at least a little effort. But it was suprising how many of them just took it as, "ooh, fun party! Let me get out my florals"

um, NO.

However, there were some really interesting and great outfits. I'm not choosing these pics on their literal interpretation of superheroes (i.e. capes and laser shooters), but on their general FIERCENESS.
Like these:

I just like how she had the balls to bring a frickin bow and arrow to the Met Gala.

These, however, made me cry a little:

I don't even dislike this dress, she just annoys me.
